In the unique case of proximity the development of the two buildings of Saint Philip Neri began with the understanding that these two facades would not only face each other, but would also have exteriors that would compliment and dignify the church next door. The general approach to massing and site planning took into account the general scale of the surrounding buildings, as well as the condition of the streetscape these buildings faced on. The formal stepping of massing was important to build upon the context, but more was needed to emphasis the air and light needed on the streetscape. The angle was born from this conversation, as this also heightened the drama between building facade folds, as well as pointing to the church next door.
